Obituary for Charles Pope
Memorial services for Charles W. “Chuck” Pope, 78, of Lufkin, will be held at a later date.
Mr. Pope was born October 9, 1943 in Trenton, New Jersey, the son of the late Mary Lois (Berry) and Charles Frank Pope. He passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021 in a local hospital.
Mr. Pope was a devoted husband, father grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed singing old karaoke and fishing. He never met a stranger and enjoyed making people laugh. Mr. Pope proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Survivors include his daughter, Candi Underwood of Midlothian, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Angee and Tony Owens of Lufkin; son, Bill Pope of Tyler; grandchildren, Austin Underwood, Hailey Underwood, Justin Pope and Elijah Kluza; great-grandchildren, Bryson Pope and McKenzie Pope.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pope was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne Pope; sister, Karen Pope; and stepfather, Pete Deck.
Services have been placed in the trust of Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home.
