Obituary for Gladys Whinery

Services for Gladys Nell Whinery, 78, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2022 in the Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Doyle Hodge, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Berry Cemetery.
Mrs. Whinery was born January 18, 1944 in Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Lela Faye (Havard) and Leroy Tullis. She passed away Friday, March 11, 2022.
Mrs. Whinery was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and especially enjoyed taking care of her boys. She enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin Whinery; sons, Christopher Lee Whinery and wife Alinda, Louie Allen Whinery, Coy Lynn Whinery and wife Samantha and Michael Whinery and wife Jolene; daughter-in-law, Mona Whinery; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Mae Gibson and Molly Anna Wilcox; and brothers, James Leroy Tullis and Jeffery Gray Tullis.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Whinery was preceded in death by her sons, Paul Wayne Whinery and Marvin Keith Whinery.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Johnson, Gary Wilson, Bryne Wilson, Walter Tompkins-Miller, Doug Erbey and Jeff Tullis. Honorary pallbearer will be William Campbell.
The family will receive friends from Noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
